Tonight Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at 8:30 pm, Mark Rauterkus, R., participant in the Mayorеs Race, City of Pittsburgh, 2001, is giving a podium talk about public policy to an open meeting with the University of Pittsburgh Libertarians, on the fifth floor, room #542, of the William Pitt Student Union. Following the meeting, outside, on the steps of the Student Union with a backdrop of the Cathedral of Learning, at least five Mayor-Race Participants will gather to sign a pledge. This simple message needs to be delivered to the citizens of Pittsburgh. Its exact words are to be made public then and there. The other candidates who have said that they would be present to agree to the pledge includes some new faces and fellow Pittsburgh citizens. Two Republicans will be there, including the key-note speaker, Mark Rauterkus. The other Republican has been a candidate for other offices recently, is from Regent Square and is a professor at a local university. A women candidate, Dem., J.K. is going to appear. She has a youngster who is in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. A Mt. Washington resident, a liberal Dem., H. L., is going to be there. He helped to establish some program in the city years ago. The teen-age media sensation, J.P., Dem. is going to be there as well. The celebrity candidates have been invited as well. Perhaps they will show and participate. ??? The pledge asks for the first publiic debate to be held with all candidates on or before Feb. 10. The petition period to obtain ballot access begins on Feb. 13. Should any Mayor candidate choose to not sign the pledge and/or not show up for the initial debate, then the candidates are going to ask that the citizens of Pittsburgh deny their signatures to that candidateеs petition -- hence blocking their entry onto the ballot. So, a promise and a threat is going to be delivered by these voices. 1 Extra Notes: Mark Rauterkus, a presently retired swim coach by profession, could be called the вteam-builderг in this endeavor. A news release will follow the event from Rauterkus.com in the early hours of Jan 17. Other candidates may or may not make their own news releases and statements. Mark Rauterkus will not make any noise after this event out of respect for Bob OеConnorеs expected entry into the race on Wed evening at the DoubleTree. This weekend, because of the events in D.C. on the 20th, no additional news will be expected by Mark Rauterkus. Mark is expected to attend some events in DC this weekend. The talk to the Pitt Libertarians by Mark Rauterkus begins with these words: The success of democracy hinges upon the reaction of the people to the opportunities presented. .... -- end --ZџџNдDSET‚џџ.HџџџџџџCЪ,дˆ Pдџџ6џџ* PDSETАџџ.HџџџџџџџџCЫ0ˆдџџˆдџџ6џџ* PDSUM'Mark RauterkusHDNISTYL ќ(џџDSTYLCЫмCЫCЫCЫдCЪрCЪќCЫ CЫџџџџW џџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџ џџџџO џџџџ џџџџ џџџџџџџџ џџџџ џџџџџџ8 џџџџџџ џџ џџџџ џџ џџџџ џџ џџџџџџ џџџџџџ џџџџџџ џџџџџџ џџџџџџ џџџџ џџџџџџџџ џџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџ џџџџџџџџџџџџџџ џџ џџHASHŒ $ксДоу( Q(2Q(5Q(xi(A( A(A( A( A(A(A(+ A(,A(=A( AQ(EAk(L: QhЙбкjзazЋсo}Bodjџџ CHARCЫиџџџџ џџ џџџњ џџџыџџ"џп џџџћ џџ€џџџћџџџџ$џџџџџџџџџџ&џлџџџыџџBџџ џџџя џџџџ џџ&џџpџџHASH„ '( 9Q Rџџ CELLCЫаŒџџџџџџџџ"џџHASHџ jџџ GRPHCЪфџџџџџџџџџ"џџHASHт џџl RULRCЪшџџџџџџџџ§@џџџџ џ@џџх@K#џџџ@K#џџчK#џџџK#F џџHASHџK"c џ@џ@§@K"@eFLKUP џџ џџ$NAMEDefault Default SSHeaderBodyFooterFootnoteFootnote Index˜џџDFNTM HelveticaGenevaMCROMCROoBlNoBlNBBARBBARџџMARKMRKSџџ MOBJWMBTETBLXDSUMФHDNIѓSTYL§MCRO$oBlN$BBAR$!MARK$1WMBT$WETBL$cџў§ќћњљј№ёђѓєѕії
